taormina
After a few pizza-fueled days in Palermo, we traveled to Taormina via train. The regional rail system hugs the coast of Sicily, passing by little seaside villages and rocky beaches.

We took a taxi from Taormina Station up the steep hillside to the Hotel Villa Belvedere.

We spent our days noodling around the town, eating carbs and trying to avoid heatstroke.
We visited the Teatro Antico de Taormina, in the shadow of Mt. Etna.
We also did a Godfather tour of some nearby villages, including a stop at Bar Vitelli!
Mostly, though, we did a bunch of exploring, mangia-ing, and chilling out.
The last evening on our honeymoon, we took a walk down to Isola Bella for a final pizza pie. There were a LOT of stairs… but we knew that there was a funicular to get us back ;)
Fittingly, it was my favorite pizza of the trip, with Sicilian pistachio sauce and burrata <3
Despite some early snafus, we had a lovely honeymoon. August isn’t the best time to visit Sicily (hot AF, tourists AF); I think visiting off season (and perhaps having a car) is the way to go! Now to go watch White Lotus.
