springtime smörgåsbord
I’m behind on the blog! I’m behind on the blog! It is quickly losing contact with reality, and space, and time. In an attempt to lightly push her back on track, we will jump around a little here with some adventures that deserve a mention but perhaps are not meaty enough for the FULL runhikepizza.com treatment.
We begin the blogpost smörgåsbord with an actual smörgåsbord from Bacchanal in NOLA.
karen & debbie’s roller disco 40th bday party
The twins had a big bday that required a big pahtay at Roller Kingdom in Hudson. (Yes, there is still a Roller Kingdom in Hudson). There was much drama about whether a “roller disco” meant 70s or 80s, which reflected in the mismash of garb.

I later posed the question to the ‘gram: “Is roller disco 70s or 80s? There’s one correct answer.” My friend Ian replied: “Were you alive in either of those decades, though?” And then I said: “Shut it, boomer!”
Roller skating is not my forte. I went into the party with one goal: don’t break anything. I was successful in this quest, and excelled at the after-party activity: Drinking On a Party Bus.
This is in my skill set
alena & shelley’s handfasting
On May Day, C and I had the honor of attending Alena & Shelley’s Handfasting! It was a beautiful day with awesome Beltane Feast elements. Waaaaaay better than a Catholic wedding, there were High Priestesses and a Green Man and loads of boozy revelries. Also a May Pole because, duh.
The brides, can you even <3

wackyworkweek
During one 7 day stretch I took a train to DC for a work event, fell in love with the power blazer, attended my 7th NEMO Sales Meeting, went paintballing for the first time, attended a college graduation at UMaine Orono, and recorded an album with the Boston Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. How did you squeeze all that in, you say? Yeah, IDFK! Happy May.
Dress your blazer up for a Meeting at the White House! (erm, the White House Complex…near the white house…….. it still had the little logo everywhere so it counts… Joe Biden still sent my confirmation email….)
Dress the blazer down!
NEMO Ladies have expanded from ~3 when I started!
My bruises lasted >6 weeks but I only cried twice

bach!
The last lil’ adventure I will sneak in here was my bachelorette party! I had a Bach-esque warmup in NOLA in March 2020, but I always intended to have a local partee that my MOH Jill happily obliged. A few of us grabbed dinner at Little Donkey, then hung out at Lamplighter Brewing Co. for a bit before going to my favorite 80s dance night, Heroes.
Obligatory Sash
